President's Report (Andi - 5 min)
- [ Acting President's Report August 2022]
- Verbal Report:
- Andi continues to operate with “keeping the lights on” necessities. Including
attending staff meetings and doing payroll.
- Andi accidentally missed the last payroll cycle – was resolved.
- Trying to keep up on general requests usually handled by an ED or
program mgr. Been challenging. Lots of emails come in. Sometimes things fall
through the cracks. Ghost bike handled by Keith.

- Been doing the bare minimum given the limited resources.
- Did meet last week and received an update on ED hiring process.
Treasurer's Report (Byron - 5 min)

- Byron has been working diligently with bookkeeper Robin, caught up to June
but still a few minor things being worked on. Will have more for next board
meeting.
Finance Committee Report (Byron - 5 min)

- This committee has not met as it is without quorum until John's return in September
Advocacy and Outreach Committee Report (Keith - 2 Min)

- Put up a ghost bike and did some interviews. CBC and CTV came out to tape the
setting up. Great involvement by staff and volunteers.

Updates on Action Items From Previous Meeting (5 min)
EDI Workshop - Tabled
Google Drive backup - Tabled
Collective Bargaining Update - Andi (2 Min)
- No update as we have not heard from union, even though we have reached out for dates, etc.
- We cannot plan or schedule anything until we have agreed upon negotiation dates from CUPE
ED Recruitment Update - Shelley (5 Min)
- 26 applicants.
- 5 identified for interviews – started this week.
- Committee will identify the top 2 or 3 interviews to be in person.
- Hopefully by Oct 3 meeting a recommendation will be put forward to the board meeting.
AGM Planning - Keith (15 Min)
- Keith went through old AGM folders, written out a list of things to prepare for.
- Set agenda
- Send out invites
- Get reports ready
- Decide if have any bylaw changes
- Keith has not called a meeting for how to split up the duties – agreed to do it now
- Keith to set up an agenda and circulate for review.

- Keith to set up an invitation to post at the bike shops
- Notice to the shops, email to membership, notice on the website.
- Nomination form is on the website.
- AGM notice requirements?
- Meeting of the members. On or before Dec 1 of each year.
- Notice must be delivered more than 14 days prior to the meeting date. Notice must be On website. Meeting must be open to the public
- Quorum is lesser of 20 members in good standing or 5% of members.
- Members in good standing must be a member for at least 1 month.
- Reports
- Keith to write up his report and remind all Committee Chairs to do the same.
- Lots of things that Molly was doing in previous years – a little concerned with how the AGM will go.
- Online or in person?
- Possible location could be Victoria Park – shelter space outside.
- Will be a bit chilly but can just be prepared.
- Door prizes…? Keith to reach out to shop managers to see if any door prizes could be found.
- Bylaw changes?
- Bylaw notice is longer and has to go out with the notice, identify what it was, the changes, and the rational for the changes.
- So no changes could be proposed to the bylaws.

Kelly Granigan
- Cares a lot about Bike Edmonton and wants to see if continue. Heard from Chris Chan that board members are looking for member. Mechanical engineer. Have a couple of kids. Car free – April 2020. Early retiree. Member of Bike Edmonton for many years.
- Question from Keith H: What is a project that you would like to see at Bike Edmonton?
- Pet project – would like to see more work with schools, school streets, outreach to young kids and families, pro cargo bike messaging, pro e-bike messaging.
- Question from Matt H: Do you have any experience with Unions?
- Little involvement with unions.
Stephen Paskaluk
- Also an engineer. History in cycling is fairly recently. Mountain biking about 7 years ago. Realized an advantage in cycling. Has used Bike Edm shops a resource for maintenance. Feel quite strongly that cycling for commuting is a lot more accessible and practical for people, something that Bike Edmonton promotes. Tend to work well with people. Been a member since 2018. Volunteered first at Heritage Days in 2021. Spoke program in spring in 2022. Paths for People in Victoria Park – safety bike tune up involvement.
- Question from Matt H: Do you have any Experience with unions?
- Little involvement with unions.
- Question from Keith H: What is a project you would like to see at Bike Edmonton?
- Pet project – goal the continued pushing of Bike Edm workshops and outreach events (e.g. in schools). Lots to be done in this area.
Joe Kerr
- Moved to Edmonton about 1 year ago, Found child care and now have time to get involved. By joining the board, can push forward the bike advocacy in Edmonton. Previous experience with other bike organizations, volunteer bike workshops in Calgary. Done consulting but currently looking for work (when not chasing kids). Open to taking up projects. Mechanical Engineer.
- Question from Keith H: What is a project you would like to see at Bike Edmonton?
- Pet project – goal to get more people cycling – city could have some metric wrt how much gas is consumed in the city and a goal of reducing the amount of gas. Increasing members – some metrics to have for goals.
- Question from Matt H: Do you have any Experience with unions?
- Experience with HR and hiring but no experience with unions.

Board term is through Nov 30, 2022
Nominees will need to be elected to full two-year terms at the AGM on 23 Oct 2022

Ghost Bike Installation - Keith (5 Min)
On August 27, 53 year old was in a fatal biking accident at 50 th Street and Yellowhead Trail. 4:30am.
- Bike Edmonton put together a media release and set up the Ghost Bike today, Sept 12, 2022 at noon. 3 people cycled out to the Ghost Bike location. Deceased’s family was there, CTV and CBC took video of the setting up of the Ghost Bike. Should be on tonight’s news. Link to the Bike Edmonton website. Keith will circulate a link to the websites when it is sent out by the news outlets.
