Plan to Sell Bikes from the Downtown Shop - Sarah R. (2 mins)

  • Chris and the staff have been brainstorming ideas
  • currently tagging and pricing "as-is" bikes for sale for both shops
  • primarily operating on appointment only
  • looking at options to run drop in side-by-side with DIY appointments, but we are low on volunteers.
    • volunteer orientation is happening to help facilitate this
  • limited number of refurbished bikes soon to be available at Downtown
    • very limited due to limited number of bikes that are being built
    • currently more efficient to sell everything from one shop
    • with bike builders coming back to their full hours, more bikes will be available soon
  • Keith H: Question: Now that there are no provincial restrictions and our plan is to be "Back to normal" operations on 15July2021. So now, what is our path to normalcy?
    • There has been much conversation at Staff meetings
    • communication to volunteers that masks will be required until at July 15
    • Surveys have gone out to volunteers and patrons about mandatory masks /https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Spy3ocDO49iORAKHel3Zd3ukiwlVK06lk-AbeNjJLds/edit?no_redirect#responses/
      • Current trend is that most people are comfortable without masks, but would continue to attend if masks are required.
      • Discussion and decision will be made on July 12
      • It is likely that mask requirements will be extended until the end of July and re-evaluate at that time
      • Patron discontent about mask requirements may influence these decisions should any conflict towards staff or volunteers
    • Capacity is currently reduced due to volunteer constraints (as listed above). Working on increasing capacity through:
      • more volunteers
      • more stands
      • potentially more hours
    • Bikes for sale from Downtown as early as next week
    • As-Is bike viewing appointments - 1 hour in length: time to browse, do a little time to work on the bike
    • We do not want to return to 100% drop-in, due to poor member experience
      • one stand reserved for repair appointments; one stand for DIY appointments; remainder for drop-in
    • courses will resume on July 17
    • dates for this return will be based on staff and volunteer vaccination rates and survey results
  • Roy C: What is the shop capacity now that we are no longer bound by fire code percentages?
    • Downtown - open 2 nights a week to the public, plus weekend afternoons
      • Patron Capacity is 2-3
      • Pre-pandemic: North shop was 6 stands plus browsing
    • South - Open 3 nights a week to the public, plus Saturday afternoons
      • Patron capacity is 1-2
      • Pre-pandemic: 5 stands plus browsing.
    • Reopening plan will be opening one stand per shop per week starting July 18, based on volunteer capacity.

Vote on Mural Colours - Sarah R. (2 mins)

  • Jason has added colour to the mural and he gave us two colour pallets that we can chose from and Matt and Sarah suggested that we put the colour choice to a vote
  • Green and blue palette - Green and blue mock up
  • Multi colour palette - Multi colour mock up
  • Staff suggested that we ask Jason to come have a look at the space so he gauge things like the colours that are already in the shop, natural lighting, artificial lighting, etc. and I agree with this suggestion
  • Can we include Pride crosswalks?
  • Bibliotank needs to be grey
  • Business logos will add colour
  • Bikes and benches will fill the negative space (bikes will look like this one sticker from Jason's website
  • City of Edmonton logo on the Edmonton Tower
  • options to label names on the bikes
    • flags?
    • banners?
MOTION
Approve the multi-colour palette as the colour choice preference for the mural
